Maricca Restaurant at Ahvyay Resort: A Fusion of Tradition and Contemporary Design
Bricolage Bombay took great care in preserving the essence of the original design, retaining iconic elements such as the Warli-painted false ceiling, which was meticulously restored to its former glory. The restoration extended to the restaurant’s furniture—chairs and tables, which were carefully refurbished to keep the original ambiance intact.
To accommodate an expanded menu, additional kitchen space was added, cleverly integrated without disrupting the original layout. Under the staircase, a stylish new bar was introduced, offering an inviting space for guests to relax.
One of the standout features of the redesigned Maricca Restaurant is the extension of the seating area to the outdoors, where a new deck and canopy offer an open-air dining experience amidst the serene surroundings of the Tungareshwar forest. This added outdoor space provides diners with a fresh, natural environment to enjoy their meals.
Inside, a striking wall adorned with block-print artwork from Bhavnagar, Gujarat, celebrates the rich fabric heritage of the state. This artwork not only adds a cultural touch but also ties the restaurant’s design to India’s deep artisanal traditions.
Maricca Restaurant’s redesign beautifully marries old and new, ensuring that its legacy remains intact while enhancing the dining experience with thoughtful modern touches.
